  • In 2009 total number of cars registered in the RoK was about 2.5 million, car park growth rate, if compared to the previous year, was about 5% (while in 2008/2007 the growth rate was about 17%). Thus in the last 3 years the car park has grown by 55%. At present due to the entry into the Customs Union, global recession that affected banks of Kazakhstan, strong inflation processes, influence by the state and a number of other factors, the development of the car market of Kazakhstan has significantly slowed down. The leading market is the one of the Almaty city that covers 17% of the car park of the country.
  • In 2009 if compared to 2008 the importation of cars reduced by 23% and was about 111 thousand cars (in 2008 importation was about 145 thousand cars).
  • Importation of new cars reduced almost twice (same like a year before that). In 2009 the number of imported new cars reduced by 14 thousand cars (that in 2009 equaled about 18 thousand cars). Importation of used cars reduced by 26% (reduced by 28,7 thousand cars and was about 93 thousand cars). In 2008-2009 the used cars made the biggest portion of the imported cars (80% and 81% correspondingly).
